This railway line will link Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea coast and the new Alamein City on the Mediterranean coast in Egypt. The project is about Build, finance and operates an electric high-speed passenger and freight railway line. The 534-kilometre high-speed rail is to be developed using a combined engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and financing model. This project comprises first phase of Egypt’s plan to build 2,000 kilometres of high-speed rail to complement its mainline network. Client has prequalified 10 consortiums for the contract to build, finance and operate this scheme. The Transport Ministry is studying offers from 23 local and international firms to build, operate and maintain a high-speed electric railway line linking Ain Sokhna to Al Alamein. A joint committee from the ministries of housing and transport is expected to conclude its review of the offers within a month, after which the government will begin receiving financial and technical offers.
